In order to promote contemporary music for double bass ensemble, encourage the creation of new works internationally, and provide global exposure to music created and performed by Mexican artists, “Ecos de Viaje: Homenaje a Stefano Scodanibbio” was produced by the Mushamukas Ensamble de Contrabajos. This album is the result of the resonance sparked in new generations of composers and performers by the musical legacy of Stefano Scodanibbio. It features the creation, performance, and recording of ten new works for double bass ensemble, using as a foundation the technical and interpretive language that Scodanibbio established in his musical catalog.
Rodrigo Mata and his Mushamukas Ensamble de Contrabajos have done the music world and the double bass community a great service with their recording Ecos de Viaje: Homenaje a Stefano Scodanibbio. This is a loving homage to the late, great Stefano Scodanibbio. The 13 tracks, composed by 9 of the bass world’s most creative voices, form a fascinating body of music that is brilliantly performed and beautifully recorded. This is a must-hear and must-have CD.
